We went to the Grindelwald Museum to learn more about the history of this area. The town has 4000 people. Previously, the museum was a schoolhouse.
The sedan chair was used to transport people up the mountain in the 1800's. I was amused by the look of the mannequin below as she awaited her transport.

Wow, I don't know if I would have felt safe taking a cable car in the early 1900's!
