The presence of an heir is vital to the security of a monarchy. This painting shows Queen Hedwig Eleanora with a painting of her son, Charles XI, indicating that she is regent for him.
The photo above shows Gustav III, son of Queen Louisa Ulrika. He points to the heavens to indicate that he is connected to God.
