Grossmunster and a Ticket to Walkways

I woke up early to this view from the patio.

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm very impressed with the tram system. These screens are placed throughout the tram car. They announce the upcoming station as well as the next few stations with how many minutes it will take to get there. As long as you are headed in the right direction (very easy with Google maps set on transit options), it's hard to make a mistake. A daily ticket is about 8 CHF for unlimited use. Yesterday, I must have taken 10+ trams.

There is a lot of construction everywhere. Sometimes this interferes with the boarding location for the tram. However, many streets are cobblestoned and have to be replaced. The above shows new cobblestones at the top replacing the old ones at the bottom.

First I visited Grossmunster which now features modern stained glass windows by Augusto Giacometti.
According to legend, Charlemagne founded this church in the late 8th century. It was here that humanist Ulrich Zwingli preached the Reformation. The church was then stripped of its furnishings and decoration, leaving it almost bare.

This statue of Charlemagne was in the crypt.

These doors by Otto Munch, were added in 1935 and 1950

Outside the Grossmunster, there was a labyrinth.

Yesterday, I discovered that Ballet Zurich was performing Walkways, a set of three ballets choreographed by Jerome Robbins and others, at the Opera House. I headed for the ticket office when it opened to try and get a ticket.
Opera House

This was a premiere, so tickets were scarce, but there were a few single tickets scattered through the Opera House. I got a front row seat on an upper tier.
