There was a table with coffee set up outside the Louvre Abu Dhabi to welcome visitors. Just a taste of Turkish coffee which was lovely.
The architecture is almost indescribable. The museum is situated right on the water which is a dazzling blue/green. Man-made ponds border the spacious outside promanade/terrace in order to bring the water closer to the patrons.
It's a very easily navigated museum because it's just one continuous gallery. Lots of Egyptian/Arabian art and artifacts which gave a terrific history lesson on the area. Also some modern art like a Jenny Holzer calligraphy installation that could be viewed from inside the museum.
In my next pot, I'll include some of the pieces I thought were especially interesting.
In the meantime, enjoy a picture of George!

Main lobby of the museum. The roof/ceiling is like a giant black metal sponge to allow light to filter in. |

Covered promenade looking out onto the water. Light is filtering in from the metal roof. |

What an amazing location! The metal ceiling looks pretty spectacular too!
