Sami people and menu

There are lectures/presentations presented throughout the day. Some are funny where we learn humorous details of the Norwegian way of life and learn the language. Others, such as the one on the Fram expeditions and today’s on the Sami people are filled with interesting information.

The Samis are indigenous people who may have been once called Lapps. They herd reindeer and have a unique way of living along with colorful Native costumes. They have been now recognized as Native peoples.

We have also seen some wind farms as we move along through the fjords. Each night, we have been mostly having a seated, served dinner instead of the buffets at breakfast and lunch. The meal is smaller which is better in the evening. There is always a brochure which explains the menu choices and often how the ingredients were procured.
