Wandering in Athens

Today I wandered over to the Museum of Cycladic Art. Saw some interesting sights...

A guard (evzone) outside the Presidential Mansion wearing the traditional white kilt, red and black cap and red clogs with pompoms.

                       Next, I took a short cut through the National Gardens.

                          An unusual irrigation ditch.

                           Turtles in one of the many ponds.

                     At first glance, I thought this was a rock. No - turtles!

                             Interesting archway.

                             Roman bath archeological site.

The Arch of Hadrian, most commonly known in Greek as Hadrian's Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling—in some respects—a Roman triumphal arch.

                                     Another archaeological site being restored.

               One of the many smaller streets in an area called The Plaka.

                     These cafes were right down the street from my hotel.

                                 Greek "Food Hall."

 

Another wanderer, perhaps.
